About the author:

Thomas Torrens has a background deeply steeped in the international petroleum industry. For more than 15 years he held senior legal positions with two major oil companies. Subsequently, he joined an international financial institution in Washington, DC, as its Legal Adviser, Energy, where for 17 more years he advised oil-producing developing countries worldwide. He still consults on and teaches upstream international petroleum legal matters to this day. The author is an avid hiker, trekker, adventure traveler and former mountaineer. He is a graduate of Cornell University, Penn Law School and he holds his doctorate from the University of Cambridge, England. He resides, seasonally, in McLean, Virginia and Casco, Maine.
