Woman's Club of McLean Donates $9,900 to Local Causes
The Woman's Club of McLean donated a total of $9,900 to nine local charities and nonprofits at its monthly meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 6. Club President Virginia Sandahl presented checks to representatives of the McLean Project for the Arts; Share, Inc.; Alternative House; Capital Caring (formerly Capital Hospice); Girls' State; Claude Moore Colonial Farm; the McLean Volunteer Fire Department; and Friends of Pleasant Grove Church. A representative of Fisher House was not present.
The donations were made possible by the club's annual Holiday Homes Tour that takes place every December and is the sole source of funds for its projects. All profits from the tour are turned back into the community in the form of many and varied service projects. In addition, the club makes periodic donations throughout each year.
This year's Holiday Homes Tour, the 46th year for the event, will take place on Thursday, Dec. 6th, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the River Oaks are of McLean. The resources raised by the tour will be augmented by funds from the MarketPlace, a simultaneous Woman's Club event featuring a bazaar, lunch/dessert concession and silent auction, to be held at Trinity United Methodist Church, in central McLean.
