Ash Wednesday in McLean
Several McLean, Arlington and Falls Church churches are offering mass and the distribution of ashes Wednesday.
After the partying associated with Mardi Gras — including the parade and festivities in Clarendon Tuesday night — many Christians in McLean will be wearing ashes on their foreheads Wednesday for Ash Wednesday.
While normally associated with Catholics, many Christian churches acknowledge Ash Wednesday as the start of a 40-day period of prayer, rememberance and (for some) fasting.
