Beloved McLean Little League Coach Remembered, Honored

A tree planted in his honor at Little League Park

McLean Little League honored long time volunteer Bob Hampton Wednesday night at the field named in his honor. 

Hampton was a McLean Little League volunteer coach, manager and historian for over 50 years and was considered one of the league's founding fathers.   He was remembered for his love of baseball and his ability to teach children to love the game and to be better baseball players.

Hampton in July at age 91.

More than 100 people attended the event including Bob's wife Ruth Hampton and members of his family.  Also attending were many former coaches, past presidents, friends, former players and their parents. 

Mike Mendler, current president of McLean Little League, presented to Ruth Hampton, a plaque on behalf of the league in honor of her husband for his dedication to to the league.
 
Bob was a great advisor and friend to all the presidents of the league during their respective terms.
 
A tree was planted at the ballpark in memory of Bob.

Dick is a former president of McLean Little League and long-time friend to Bob Hampton.
