The new construction that you'll see Monday at Dolley Madison Boulevard (Route 123) and Scotts Crossing (near Capital One) will become the first pedestrian walkway across Route 123 to connect to the new subway station.

The covered walkway becomes the next chapter of the coming of Metro to McLean and Tyson Corner that will transform Tysons Corner to a city of high-rise office buildings, condominiums and apartments in the next 20 years.

Five things you need to know from the Dulles Metrorail project, the folks building the new Silver Line from Falls Church to Reston:

• This "pedestrian pavilion" will allow residents and office workers at places like MITRE to cross Route 123 to the Tysons East Metrorail Station at the corner of Route 123 and Scotts Crossing Road between the Dulles Toll/Dulles Connector Road and I-495. This is the first of four new subway stations in McLean and Tysons Corner.

• This pavilion will be located at the corner of Route 123 and Colshire Drive (see rendering), and will serve as the ground-level entrance to the pedestrian bridges over Route 123. It is the first pedestrian pavillion to be built by the rail project.

• The neighbors should prepare for noise. Pile driving, which generates significant noise, will be necessary. Steel piles will form the foundations for pavilion structures. The pile driving will go on from 7am-5pm on weekdays and the occasional Saturday. A total of 38 piles will be installed, which is expected to last for about three weeks.

• Nearby residents at the Gates of McLean and along Anderson Road are likely to hear the noise generated as will employees at Capital One, at some Cityline Partners-owned buildings and at Northrop Grumman and MITRE operations located on Colshire Drive.

• Construction of additional pavilions at the other four stations – Tysons Central 123 at Route 123 and Tysons Boulevard; Tysons Central 7 on Route 7 near SAIC, Tysons West at Route 7 and Spring Hill Road and Wiehle Avenue -- will begin soon.
