Raised $108,000 in 10 weeks.

The Greater McLean Chamber of Commerce annually  honors community and business leaders for their outstanding service to McLean. Seventeen men and women, our neighbors, received awards in a recent ceremony for their amazing work. McLean Patch is profiling each winner by publishing the citations awarded to each.

McLean’s own Rebecca (Becca) Wilcox  was awarded Woman of the Year for 2011 by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Nineteen candidates started the competition for the 20th anniversary of the National Capital Area Chapter Man and Woman of the Year program. Becca finished first among the woman, raising $108,000 in 10 weeks.

Becca held fundraisers almost every week, from guest bartender events and auctions, to raffle tickets and cash donations.  Everybody in her business and professional circle helped her achieve her goal.  Becca is widely admired by her customers and co-workers for her dedication in, making this her platform and exceeding her goal.

She included many McLean associates to help work the events to raise the funds to realize her commitment to the community.  In her spare time, Becca is the Catering Director for private dining at The Capital Grille, on International Drive in McLean, VA.
