PHOTOS: Clean-Up Commences in McLean
Sandy blew through on Monday night and wrecked havoc on trees and power lines around McLean.
Update, 2:30 p.m.
Dominion reported to Gov. Bob McDonnell it intends to restore power to all customers by Thursday evening.
On Tuesday afternoon, there are still over 3,000 Dominion customers in McLean without power, according to the utility company's interactive outage map, but all around the community, there is evidence of concerted clean-up efforts and crews working to get residents back on the grid.
The traffic lights at one of the biggest intersections in McLean - Chain Bridge Road and Dolley Madison Boulevard - are down, as well as electricity at the nearby Salona Village Shopping Center, where McLean Family Restaurant is located. The shops in that area are closed.
Just across the street, though, Safeway is up and running.
There are pockets of outages all over McLean. There's a running list posted on Patch here. Dominion is not providing time estimates of when power will be restored, but Dranesville District Supervisor John Foust told Patch earlier he confirmed that crews were headed out near Great Falls later Tuesday afternoon.
