Update: Larceny Suspect Eludes Police in McLean

Several patrol cars were dispatched to the intersection of Whittier Avenue and Linden Hurst Avenue on Monday afternoon.

 

Update, 9:30 a.m. Aug. 7

A man wanted in connection with a larceny was not caught by police in McLean on Monday afternoon.

The suspect was seen by an officer near the intersection of Whittier Avenue and Linden Hurst Avenue in McLean. Patrol cars and a police helicopter were dispatched to the area, but the suspect was not found.

Police spokesman Eddy Azcarate said the man is a suspect in a larceny case that occurred sometime before Monday. He did not have additional details about the case.

Fairfax County Police are searching for a larceny suspect near the intersection of Whittier Avenue and Linden Hurst Avenue in McLean.

Police spokesman Eddy Azcarate said several patrol cars have been dispatched to the area, just off Chain Bridge Road near Total Wine.

Azcarate did not have additional information about the suspect, what had been stolen or the exact location of the crime.

Great job getting this news published quickly. I've lived here for 30 years and never seen more police in a three square block area -- K9 car, roadblock on Whittier, police helicopter overhead and at least six police cars. Makes me feel like I live in a safe area. Good to know that it's only larceny. McLean Patch was the only place that I could find any news on this.
