UPDATE. McLean neighbor just shared a photo of the Space Shuttle Discovery as it flew over her house. Thank you so much.

Another neighbor reported that Greenberry's the popular downtown coffee shop emptied as customers went outside to see Discovery.

UPDATE: Space Shuttle Discovery just made a second pass over McLean.

It is continuing to circle the Washington, D.C. area creating ohhs and ahhs in its wake.

ORIGINAL:The Space Shuttle Discovery just flew over the west side of McLean.

McLean Patch was watching the shuttle fly up the Potomac over Georgetown. We know a little something about air routes so we went outside hoping to catch a glimpse of it going up the river.

As soon as we arrived at the end of the driveway, we heard it in the north. Then it flew right by us low and slow.

It flew to the south right over Chain Bridge Road and Lewinsville Park heading southeast.

Totally awesome. Totally made our day.
