Weekend Alert: Dulles Rail Construction to Slow Orange Line

20 minute delays between East and West Falls Church

Metrorail riders using the Orange Line between the East Falls Church and West Falls Church stations this weekend should allow an additional 20 minutes of travel time.

The Dulles Metrorail Project, which is building the new Silver Line from Falls Church to Reston, is installing cables this weekend thus the delays.

Starting at 10 p.m. tonight, and continuing through closing on Sunday night, , shuttle buses will replace Orange Line trains between these two stations.

Orange Line trains will operate in two sections: between Vienna and West Falls Church at regular weekend intervals, and between East Falls Church and New Carrollton at regular weekend intervals.

The last eastbound train will depart Vienna 20 minutes earlier than normal, at 2:05 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights, and at 11:05 p.m. on Sunday night. [The WMATA Web site says 11:05 a.m. but Patch assumes this is a typo.]
