Want to Warn Others About McLean Immediate Care

Beware of the charging policies at McLean Immediate Care.  They tack on all kinds of extra charges that will not be covered by Blue Cross/Blue Shield.  They recently tacked on $150.00 for what Blue Cross/Blue Shield indicates is an "additional charge", bringing the total for an xrayed ankle to $469, a price they consider "reasonable", but I think is outrageous.  That is before a specialist was even seen.

A McLean Neighbor

I have been to McLean Imm Care several times, I know it's an $88 just to walk in the door & they don't take insurance (your insur does NOT reimburse you -I've checked with 3 plans & it goes "to your deductible"). In March, my 3 yr old cut the area just to the right of his right eye. The eye wasn't injured but I thought he may need dermabond (I didn't think he needed stitches). I asked if the Dr. could look at it to see if we even needed treatment & if the Dr said no we wouldn't have to wait that whole time. They said there was no wait & took us back about 4 or 5 mins later. Dr. cleaned it up & put ONE layer of dermabond. My son was crying (dermabond stings) so she stopped & said he didn't need another layer. I was w/the Dr. LESS THAN 5 MINUTES! I went to pay & they said $400 ! $400?? I asked her if she was joking be/c I truly believed she was. Then I asked her how could she tell me that w/ a straight face. She said it was considered an "emergency visit." It wasn't an emergency. There was no one there & I wasn't even sure I needed treatment! I said I'm not paying $400 & the manager reduced the bill to $250. $250 is ridiculous! I was so mad I just pd & walked out. I looked at my clock & I had been inside a total of 17 mins!
I know you pay a premium here be/c they don't take insurance and the service is generally pretty quick, but $250 for one swipe of dermabond and a 5 min visit with the Dr. is absolutely absurd.
