nFairfax Partnership for Youth\, Inc. will launch its new community-base
d program\, Bully-Free NoVa: A Community of Respect. The launch receptio
n will take place on November 13\, 2012\, at the James Lee Community Cen
 ter\, 2855 Annandale Road #101\, Falls Church\, VA 22042\, from 5:00 p.m
 . &ndash\; 6:30 p.m.\nFPY&rsquo\;s bullying prevention training team wil
l provide an overview of the new bullying awareness and prevention progr
am. All community supporters of the anti-bullying movement should attend
this free event.\nYouth report that they are bullying and being bullied
now more than ever before. All youth are vulnerable\, but those with sp
ecial needs\, racial/ethnic minorities\, and LGBT youth are at even grea
ter risk. The social and emotional effects of chronic bullying\, includi
ng cyberbullying\, can be lasting and devastating for individuals\, fami
lies\, and the entire community.\nPeople who are bullied in the workplac
 e have higher rates of depression\, anxiety\, low self-esteem\, health p
roblems\, poor job and/or school performance and suicidal thoughts. Work
place bullying and harassment increases the work load on mental health p
roviders\, raises insurance rates and cost of health care\, and emotiona
lly takes a toll on families\, friends\, and colleagues in the work plac
e.\nLaunch reception attendees will learn:\n The basics of FPY&rsquo\
;s program approach\n How to get their community-based organization o
r business involved\n How to support and be a part of this ongoing in
 itiative\nParticipants can register at www.fairfaxyouth.org for free.\n\
