A recent request fielded by the McLean Senior Source volunteers was from an adult child looking to help her mother. The question posed was about local ride services that could help her mother who is healthy and mobile, but can no longer drive due to vision issues.
Some of the local resources that are available include:
>> The newly formed McLean/Falls Church/Arlington Shepherd's Center whose volunteers provide rides for shopping and errands. Their number is (703) 506-2199. The list of services they provide can be found on their website at: http://www.shepherdscentermcafc.org/services.html
>> Fairfax County also provides transportation via Fastran for those with an annual income of $24,368 or less: http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/rec/fastran/
>> For residents with incomes of $40,000 or less, Fairfax County offers a subsidized taxi voucher program, Seniors on the Go!: http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/ncs/seniors.htm, phone (703) 877-5800.
To pose your question to this free, non-emergency, volunteer-managed resource, you can:
