McLean Home Prices Rise: The average selling price of a McLean home from January to August was $1,059,529, according to a new blog post by the Belt Team. That's the highest average for the eight-month period since 2008. Read more here.

History of Marijuana Law: The Northern Virginia chapter of NORML, the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws, meets at 7:30 p.m. today at Bailey's Pub & Grill in Ballston Common Mall. Tonight's topic is the history of marijuana law and the founding of NORML. The guest speaker is John Zwerling, a attorney and founding member of the national group. Zwerling served as president of the Alexandria Bar Association in 2001-02. More info here.

Stroll in the Garden: Take a stroll alongside Byzantine and pre-Columbian art at Dumbarton Oaks. The garden is open 2 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays.
