DC Jazz Festival Releases Tickets for 10th Anniversary Event

WASHINGTON, D.C. – April 17, 2014 — The fastest growing jazz festival in the U.S., the DC Jazz Festival® (DCJF), today announced the lineup for its 10th anniversary event, which will be held June 24-29, 2014. Tickets are available now for the groovy and intimate Hamilton Live, the iconic Sixth & Historic Synagogue and the three-day outdoor centerpiece of the Festival, presented at the newly built and innovative Yards Park at the Capitol Riverfront.

“We are delighted to announce that local and out-of-town jazz fans can begin planning their trips to D.C. for jazz in June,” said Erik A. Moses, managing director of Event DC’s Sports and Entertainment Division. “This 10th anniversary DC Jazz Festival will be one for the history books, with top-notch artists performing in some of this city’s most exceptional venues.”

DC Jazz Festival and Events DC Present: Jazz at the Capitol Riverfront, an exclusive three-day blowout where fans can enjoy a diverse, jazz lineup at the recently unveiled Yards Park – a beautiful park with an urban feel overlooking the Anacostia River. The event features Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, Yasiin Bey (aka Mos Def) with a very special guest, Gregory Porter, Rebirth Brass Band, Irma Thomas, vocalist Akua Allrich and harmonica virtuoso Frédéric Yonnet.

Jazz at the Hamilton Liveco-presented by The Washington Post, will present six nights of exciting, eclectic performances. Performers include acclaimed and emerging artists such as Paquito D’Rivera, The Dizzy Gillespie Afro-Cuban Experience, Snarky Puppy, Roy Hargrove, The Brass-A-Holics, Etienne Charles and with Rudresh Mahanthappa, and a salute to Women in Jazz with rising stars Tia Fuller and Helen Sung.

Cyrus Chestnut Quartet: Dave Brubeck Reimaginedin partnership with Sixth and I Historic Synagogue, is a special tribute concert in memory of one of America’s greatest jazz icons – Dave Brubeck. The revered pianist and composer was one of our nation’s most treasured cultural ambassadors who played an instrumental role in further popularizing jazz throughout the world during the 1950s and ’60s. Brubeck’s recordings include Jazz Impressions of Eurasia and Time Out, the first jazz album to sell a million copies, which featured Take Five, the still instantly recognizable hit single.
