Music in McLean Concert Series Announces 2013-2014 Season

The 2013-2014 Music in McLean Concert Series offers an outstanding line up of the Washington, D.C. area’s top classical music performers. Artistic Director, Paul Skevington, crafted a season that offers something for every music lover.

This season will include performances by large ensembles such as The McLean Orchestra (Sunday, February 9, 4:00 PM) , The City Choir of Washington (Sunday, Feb 23, 2014, 4:00 PM), and Amadeus Orchestra (Featured on multiple dates), as well as chamber music from the Beau Soir Ensemble (Sunday, January 12, 4:00 PM)  and Thomas Pandolfi, pianist, with Doug Wolters, cellist (Sunday, June 8, 4:00 PM).

Music from every era will be highlighted, from Baroque works, such as Francesco Manfredini’s Concerto for Two Trumpets in C Major (Sunday, October 27, 4:00 PM, on the same program with Haydn’s Nelson Mass) to the modern pieces such as Haim (2012), inspired by the life of David Arben, Holocaust survivor, for string quartet, clarinet, piano, and spoken word (Sunday, October 6, 4:00 PM)

“2013-2014 is perhaps our most diverse and intriguing season ever. Each monthly concert offers a new opportunity to explore different types of music from different types of ensembles,” said Music in McLean Concert Assistant, Elizabeth Fogel.  

Music in McLean also offers a free Midday Music Series called ‘Third Wednesday at Noon’. On the third Wednesday of the month, a free, 30 minute recital is given by a D.C. area organist on the incredible Saint Luke Pipe Organ. Luncheons follow each performance. Music in McLean was founded 21 years ago as a way to bring top quality musicians to the community of McLean, Virginia. Over the years, the series has hosted numerous fine musicians in addition to providing the backdrop for collaborations between choirs, orchestras and organists.
