National Academic Competition this weekend features local students

Who was the first U.S. President from New York? What pre-Revolutionary event involved an unauthorized boarding of the Dartmouth, the Eleanor, and the Beaver? Operation Glimmer and Operation Taxable were decoys created to distract German forces during what WWII operation?

Local students, including Jonathan Leidenheimer, a senior at Falls Church's George C. Marshall High School and McLean, Va.'s Tajin Rogers, a junior at Georgetown Day School, will be among the 1000 students from across the U.S., answering questions like these in the fourth annual National History Bowl and Bee Competition to be held this week, April 26-27th in Washington, D.C. and Arlington, Virginia.

Chief sponsors HISTORY(commonly known as the History Channel) and publisher Houghton Mifflin Harcourt are sponsoring $25,000 worth of prizes for the top teams and students.
