Baby Deer Killed in Potomac Hills
Fairfax County is hosting a meeting in McLean tonight to discuss methods to control the deer population.
A baby deer was killed Monday afternoon on Loch Raven Drive in McLean.
No one saw it happen in the Potomac Hills community but it appeared that the fawn had been hit by a car. Neighbors called the non-emergency police number and the Fairfax County Animal Control was dispatched to euthanize the animal.
“It was not a pretty sight to see. It was awful,” said one Loch Raven Drive resident.

Neighbors have been spotting more deer in their backyards in Potomac Hills in recent weeks as they forage for food and water.
The deer was described as the size of a big dog just flopping around in front of 6225 Loch Raven Drive.

Local police have been urging caution because of the exploding deer population in the area.
“People need to realize these things are out in the day,” the resident said, urging people to drive slowly through the development because there are “young children” playing near the streets.
