Reminder: East and West Falls Church Metro Stations Closed This Weekend and Next Weekend

It’s Thursday. The weekend is so close you can almost taste it. Downside? You’ve got no idea what to do during your two days of freedom.

Patch is coming to the rescue. We've picked out some of the best events around Fairfax County for your done-work-outta-here time. Is it 5 p.m. on Friday yet?

1. Adopt-A-Lab Day

Where/When: Weber's Pet Supermarket, 11021 Lee Hwy, Fairfax. Saturday, 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Why Go: If you're been in the market for a dog, then Saturday is your lucky day.

Pricing: Adoption fees range from $200 to $300, depending on the age of the dog.

2. Deep River Concert and After Party

Where/When: Jammin' Java, 227 Maple Ave E., Vienna. Saturday, 8 p.m.

Why Go: According to the event listing, "What do you get when you combine a charismatic actress with a powerhouse voice, a multi-instrumentalist heartthrob-in-the-making and an introverted genius songwriter? You get Deep River." If this sounds like your cup of tea, make plans to be at Jammin' Java on Saturday night.

Pricing: Tickets are $15. Late night dance party is free.

3. National Shamrockfest 2011

Where/When: RFK Festival Grounds, 2400 East Capitol St. SE, Washington. Saturday, 12:30 p.m.

Why Go: Have an urge to head into the big city for a pre-Saint Patty's Day celebration? Dozens of Irish bands and D.J.s will be performing at this all-day affair. There will also be games, a kilt competition and - did we fail to mention? - lots of green beer.

Pricing: Tickets range from $24.99 for an individual ticket to $89.99 for a VIP ticket.

4. 2011 Estate and Garage Sale at Claude Moore Farm

Where/When: Claude Moore Memorial Farm, 6310 Georgetown Pike, McLean. Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Why Go: Calling all bargain hunters and "Antiques Roadshow" buffs! This is your prime chance to persue all sorts of forgotten treasures. Just think of this estate sale as the mother of all garage sales. It's a one-stop shop!

Pricing: Free to attend.

5. Fairfax Volunteer Fire Department presents B-I-N-G-O!

Where/When: Fairfax Volunteer Fire Department, 4081 University Dr, Fairfax; Friday, 7:15 p.m.

Why Go: There's food, free coffee and a $1,000 guaranteed jackpot!

Pricing: $18-$42 to play; Visit the department's website for more information on pricing.

Just a reminder, if you're taking the subway this weekend:

Effective Mar. 11-13 and 18-20, 10 p.m. - midnight:  Temporary shutdown of rail service between East Falls Church and West Falls Church Metro Stations, MetroBus will be providing free shuttle bus service between the two stations.

To board the Metro shuttle bus at West Falls Church Metro Station, passengers need to: Follow all information signs located inside the Metro Station for the location and directions to the shuttle buses going to East Falls Church Metro Station.
Passengers returning to the West Falls Church Metro Station from East Falls Church must board the Metro shuttle buses to West Falls Church and proceed to lower level for connection to Fairfax Connector bus routes 505 and 950 to Herndon-Monroe Park and Ride and Reston Town Center.
