This Week: A Discussion for Student Athletes at MHS; Events at the Alden

 Success and the Student-Athlete

Where/When: McLean High School, 1633 Davidson Road, McLean; Thursday, June 2, 7 p.m.

Why Go: The Safe Community Coalition, along with the McLean High School PTSA and Athletic Boosters, will present a panel discussion on “Success and the Student Athlete.” Moderator and USA Today sports columnist Christine Brennan will help cover topics including the benefits of participating in recreational and varsity sports, how to thrive as a student athlete, and how to curb the role that drugs and alcohol play in the sports culture. Students and parents from the McLean community are welcome.

Ages: Appropriate for students 13 and over. All parents welcome.

Volunteer Certification Program at the Alden Theatre

Where/When: Alden Theatre, 1234 Ingleside Avenue, McLean; five Saturdays in June—first session is Saturday, June 4, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
Why Go:
Perfect for tech-savvy and theatre-mad teens, this five-session training course will allow them to volunteer in the Alden Theatre in a technical capacity. Students will learn all aspects of technical production—including safety issues—in order to assist local with productions throughout the year.

Price: Free!

Ages: 14 and above.

Theatreworks USA's production of Click, Clack, Moo

Where/When: Alden Theatre, 1234 Ingleside Avenue, McLean; Sunday, June 5, 3 p.m.

Why Go: This "mooooo-ving" new musical about negotiation and compromise, based on the Caldecott Honor Book by Doreen Cronin and Betsy Lewin, will have your kids rolling in the aisle.

Price: $12/$8 district residents.

Ages: 4 and above.
