Why Go: “Replete with 33 exuberant singers and dancers, the show is a lively hit,” Patch reviewer Victoria Weseley about this family-friendly production at the Alden Theatre.
Pricing: $19 for adults, $17 for seniors, McLean residents and students, and $13 for groups of 10 or more.

Where/When: Wolf Trap’s Children’s Theatre-in-the-Woods, 1645 Trap Road, Vienna; each day through Saturday, July 30; shows at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m.
Why Go: The area’s most talented young dancers will perform “Caroline’s fantastic adventure at the seashore,” complete with octopus, sea horse and angel fish encounters. Afterwards, the Monumental Brass Quintet will take the stage and fill gorgeous Theatre-in-the-Woods with sounds from the tuba, trumpet and other lively brass instruments.
Pricing: $8 day pass (both shows)
Ages: All performances are recommended for children between kindergarten and sixth-grade.
Where/When: 1st Stage Theatre, 1524 Spring Hill Road, McLean; Monday, Aug. 1, through Friday, Aug. 5, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Why Go: In this week-long camp, children explore the ties between theatre and fine arts through activities, games and daily projects. At the end of the camp, participants stage their own theater production and show off their creative talents in an art show.
Pricing: $285 for the week
