Situation on stunning Lake Anne, kids can play corn hole and participate in the costume contest and scavenger hunt, while parents can enjoy local craft brews and nibbles from Reston-based restaurants. Proceeds benefit the 4Paws Rescue Team.

Children’s Author Laura Numeroff signs If You Give a Dog a Donut
Where/When: Barnes & Noble Tysons Corner, 7851 L Tysons Corner Center, McLean; Saturday, October 29, 1pm
Why Go: Laura Numeroff, author of the irresistible “If You Give…” book series, is coming to Tysons to read and sign her newest release. Please note: although all are welcome at the reading, you must present a Barnes & Noble or BN.COM receipt for “If You Give a Dog a Donut” to enter the signing line.

Ages: Children ages 4-8 are the biggest fans of the series
Where/When: Cox Farms, 15621 Braddock Road, Centreville; Daily through October, 10am-6pm
Why Go: One of the largest fall festivals in Virginia, activities across the 90-acre property include unlimited hayrides, giant slides, rope swings, a pumpkin patch, live entertainment and much more. The little ones will also squeal over the farm animals and their babies.
Pricing: $9 on weekdays, $15 on weekends. Free for children under 2.
