Hurricane Sandy: Your Photos from Vienna

Share your photos of Hurricane Sandy on Patch

The worst of Hurricane Sandy is expected to hit our area later Monday evening, but that does not mean the Vienna area is not already feeling some effects.

As of early Monday evening, many are hunkered down and ready for the storm. Schools are closed, as is the county and federal government. Metro bus and rail service is shut down, and most flights from Washington-area airports are delayed or canceled. Many stores shuttered, though some remained opened for residents' last-minute shopping.

If a tree falls on your house or a neighbor's, call 911. For downed trees posing hazard to public areas, call the Fairfax County Urban Forestry at 703-324-1770 or TTY 703-324-1877. For tree removal in non-emergency situations, call one of the following departments:

  • Virginia Department of Transportation, 800-FOR-ROAD or TTY 711, for trees adjacent to public roads.
  • Fairfax County Park Authority, 703-324-8594 or TTY 703-324-3988, for trees downed on county parkland.
  • Vienna Police Department (for Town of Vienna residents), 703-255-6366 for downed trees or flooding reports within town limits

Have you been out on Monday? Let us know what the roads are like and what is opened or closed — and anything else you see out there. Post pictures to this article and talk to us in the comments.

Are you staying in? Talk to us in the comments about what you and your family are doing. Post a picture, too.

Either way, stay safe and dry and keep in touch! Here are Fairfax County and utility emergency numbers if you need them.
