A McLean couple who fought their condo board in order to be allowed to fly the American flag from their balcony has gotten their wish. They were told last Tuesday to take down their American flag.

So Debbie Sunga and her fiance U.S. Marine Paolo Advincula, fought their HOA at The Rotunda condominium building.

After the couple started a petition "Let Us Fly the American Flag" on change.org, the condo board on Friday at McLean's Rotunda decided to change their minds about allowing the patriotic gesture.

"On Friday, June 27, 2014: Rotonda [sic] management changed its bylaw to allow us to display our American flag every day of the year on our property." Debbie wrote on change.org.

Paolo: NoVa has been compromised by Left-wing Liberals who simply do not appreciate the sacrifices made by 510k KIA members of our military since 1941 and the continued endeavor by those in uniform today. I served for 8 years and I guess the understanding of what it takes sits with you once you have worn the uniform 24MAU

I have always felt young people should serve at least two years in the military to appreciate what the military is all about and what our service members sacrifice. The problem is our youth are not being taught history any more and do not relate or feel entitled to freedoms. They don't see how previous sacrifices have given them their rights and take them for granted. A lot of countries have their youths serve a few years and it makes sense,

Chris: While I agree with you regarding service, there is a fundamental concern, where parents aren't teaching their kids personal responsibility and boys are being raised to be "cowards" rather than being groomed to be a man. I am from a generation where we "just dealt with it" , carried our responsibilities on our own shoulders from a young age. That time has passed unfortunatetly.

Just sad sad sad to see. We have a bunch of spoiled, entitled ingrates who do not understand how blessed they are to be citizens here. It is no longer what can I do for my country - but what can my country do for me. Sad!
