McLean Officially a Good Place for Families

NerdWallet says local economy, public schools a factor in high-rating among Virginia neighborhoods.

If you chose to live in McLean, you probably already know that it's a pretty great town, especially for families. 

But now it's official—NerdWallet has ranked McLean the 9th-best place to live in Virginia

The survey evaluated five factors in each town, including:

  • 1.    Public school rating
  • 2.    Average home value
  • 3.    Ongoing cost of homeownership
  • 4.    Average income
  • 5.    Economic growth

The survey acknowledges McLean's strong economy as one of the key factors for its rating.

NerdWallet wrote: "Home values are, on average, $800,000 and income levels are high as well. The average salary is $170,933, more than three times the national average. It follows that, with a booming local economy, the public schools are excellent as well. Two of McLean’s high schools are among the top ten in the state, according to U.S. News and World Report."
