---D-Day. June 6, 1944. We awakened this morning to find  American, British, Canadian, French and Polish troops fighting their way ashore on  five beaches --- about 50 miles along the Normandy Coast of France.

Reminder: Lane Closing on Dulles Access Road. This morning  the left lane of westbound Dulles Access Highway (the one with no tolls) will be closed from the Beulah Road overpass to just beyond the 8.7 mile-marker near Hunter Mill Road from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. This closing continues for approximately two weeks.

Wednesday June 8

- The suspect who was apprehended after an Oakton bank robbery Wednesday morning may be the same man suspected of two recent bank robberies in Reston and one in McLean, Fairfax County Police said.
