Local things to do this weekend in your neighborhood!

When/Where: Saturday, Oct. 1, Registration at 6:45 a.m. and Race begins 8 a.m.; CENTURY 21 New Millennium, McLean Branch, 6629 Old Dominion Drive, McLean, VA 22101

Why Go: Do something healthy and help local charities at the same time by participating in the 4th Annual McLean 5K Run, Walk, Roll. 4th Annual McLean 5K, Hosted by CENTURY 21 New Millennium and the McLean Community Center.  Proceeds to benefit Children’s National Medical Center, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Wounded Warrior Project, and Habitat for Humanity

Price: $30 before 9/30; $35 Race Day

When/Where: Saturday, Oct. 1, 2 p.m.; Alden Theatre, 1234 Ingleside Ave. McLean, VA

Why Go: The Alden Theatre's McLean Kids performance series opens with this musical adaptation of the classic Grimm Brother's fairy tale featuring live actors and puppets. This production is suitable for children ages 4 and older.

When/Where: Sunday, Oct. 2, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.; McLean Central Park

Why Go: Art, Music, Food, Fun! The McLean Project for the Arts (MPA) presents its annual juried fine art and craft show and sale featuring the work of over 40 local and regional visual artists. Includes fun activities for art lovers of all ages.

Yo Gabba Gabba! Live!

When/Where: Friday, Sept. 30, 7 p.m.; the George Mason Patriot Center, 4500 Patriot Circle, Fairfax, VA

Why Go: Take your tots to see the popular Nick Jr. show live at the Patriot Center. The "It's Time to Dance" tour will bring DJ Lance Rock, Muno, Foofa, Brobee, Toodee and Plex to life, including special guests Leslie Hall and hip-hop legend Biz Markie.

ZestFest

When/Where: Friday, Sept. 30 - Saturday, Oct. 1, times vary; around Washington D.C. check website for times and locations

Why Go: Check out all of the new development in NoMA (the area north of Massachusetts Avenue near the New York Avenue Metro station) at this free festival offering different programming each day, including live music, food trucks, dance performances and a family field day on Saturday.
