Major Orange Line Delays This Weekend

Joint Republican Office. Look for Republican neighbors and candidates Barbara Comstock and Caren Merrick to open a joint office in downtown McLean on Saturday morning.

Comstock is running to keep the 34th Virginia House District seat against Democrat Pamela Danner. Merrick, a newcomer, is running in the newly reconfigured 31st Virginia Senate seat. Her opponent will be determined by the Democrat primary Aug. 23. Dems Barbara Favola and Jaime Areizaga-Soto are competing in the primary.

The Comstock Merrick office located at 1313 Dolley Madison just off Beverly Road will be opening at 8:30 am.

Weekend Orange Line Disruptions. Service along Metro's Orange Line between the East Falls Church and West Falls Church Metrorail stations will be disrupted this weekend up to 30 minutes because of Metrorail construction.

The disruptions will begin at 10 p.m. Friday, July 15, and continue though closing Sunday evening, July 17.

Both stations will remain open. Free shuttle buses will carry passengers between stations. Saturday and Sunday mornings, the last trains will leave the Vienna Metro Station 20 minutes earlier than usual at 2:05 a.m. On Sunday night, the last train will leave Vienna at 11:05 p.m., also 20 minutes ahead of the normal schedule.

Schedules will be back to normal Monday morning.

The McLean Pharmacy. Sign next to McLean 1910 in the Langley Shopping Center says McLean Pharmacy is moving in. That's not OUR McLean pharmacy, the Medicine Chest, a McLean institution on Old Dominion Drive. It's a new pharmacy that's coming to town. Stay tuned.

Where's Ali? Ali Zirek who formally worked his magic at the barbershop up the street from Greenberrys and at Hair Cuttery, has now opened his own shop. You can now find Ali at the McLean Barbershop in Salona Village next to McLean Family Restaurant.

We wish Ali much success.
