IN EFFECT FROM NOWN UNTIL 9 PM EDT THIS EVENING IN THE FOLLOWING NORTHERN VIRGINIA COUNTIES AND CITIES:

This Afternoon: Showers and thunderstorms. Some storms could be severe, with large hail, damaging winds, and heavy rain. High near 72. Southeast wind between 7 and 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Tonight: Showers and thunderstorms before 2am, then scattered showers. Some of the storms could be severe and produce heavy rainfall. Patchy fog after 2am. Low around 57. Southeast wind around 5 mph becoming calm. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
