A long list of "to-do" items that must be completed before the long-awaited Silver Line opens may take longer than originally thought, metro officials said Monday.

The Washington Post reported Rob Troup, Metro's chief of operations, as saying: “We do have concern that the airports authority and the contractor are behind schedule on approximately half of the items we have listed.”

Of the list of 33 items that need to be checked off before the Silver Line opens, Troup noted that four items on the list were completed. Construction on the line is led by Bechtel.

“Does it concern us?” Troup said. “There’s no question it concerns us.”

Bechtel spokeswoman Michelle Michael responded, “We continue to work diligently in collaboration” with the airports authority and Metro.

The opening date will be set by the Metro Board of Directors.

When the Silver Line opens, service will run from Wiehle-Reston East station to Largo Town Center, with trains every six minutes during rush hour and every 12 to 20 minutes at other times.

Five new stations will be added to the Metrorail system: McLean, Tysons Corner, Greensboro, Spring Hill and Wiehle-Reston East.

Work also has begun on Phase 2 of the project, which will connect the Metrorail system with Herndon, Washington Dulles International Airport and points in Loudoun County.
