Storm Knocks Out Power to 30,000 Homes in Northern Virginia

Many homes in Fairfax County's Great Falls, Burke and Vienna are without power.

A storm packing winds of up to 70 miles per hour has knocked out power Tuesday night to 30,000 homes across Northern Virginia, according to a Dominion Power outage map.

As of about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday:

In Fairfax County:

  • The Great Falls area is especially hard hit, near Seneca Road and Route 7, where the outage map shows that 3,923 homes were without power at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday due to the storm. A restoration time for power is unavailable.
  • In the Burke area, there are also nearly 4,000 homes without power near Sydenstricker Road.
  • In the Vienna area, there are 1,774 homes without power near Lawyers Road.
  • In McLean, there are at least 750 homes without power near Westmoreland and Chain Bridge Road.
  • In the Mount Vernon area, there are about 520 homes without power.
In Loudoun County, more than 14,000 homes are without power.

Nearly 2,000 homes in Prince William County are without power.
