Some Neighbors Without Power, Tornado Watch Remains

UPDATE: National Weather Service  has issued a special statement for our area: Severe thunderstorms with isolated tornadoes are likely to impact the  Washington metropolitan area and southern Maryland between 4 pm and 6 pm today (Saturday,16 April) 

A line of gusty showers and severe thunderstorms over northern and Central Virginia will  continue to slowly progress east through the Washington metropolitan and southern Maryland area between 4 and 6 pm. Isolated tornadoes are possible in some of the stronger Thunderstorms. Please be ready to take cover should warnings be Issued for your area.

Earlier Story: The National Weather Service  has issued a Tornado Watch and Coastal Flood WARNING for our area in effect now until 11 am Sunday. The warning replaces the previous Coastal Watch and Warning.

A Flash Flood Watch is still in effect until 11 pm tonight. A COASTAL FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS OCCURRING or is IMMINENT. COASTAL RESIDENTS IN THE WARNED AREA SHOULD BE ALERT to RISING WATER...AND TAKE APPROPRIATE ACTION TO PROTECT LIFE AND PROPERTY.

No power outages reported in McLean, according to Dominion Power.

Weather Forecast for McLean:

This Afternoon: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. High near 61. Breezy, with a southeast wind around 21 mph, with gusts as high as 36 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Tonight: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 11pm, then a slight chance of showers between 11pm and 2am. Some storms could be severe, with damaging winds and heavy rain. Low around 45. West wind between 13 and 16 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
