Full Beltway, Dulles Road Closings Overnight This Week

Here's a list of this week's traffic challenges brought to you by the simultaneous construction of the new Silver Line and the express (aka HOT) lanes through Tysons Corner and McLean.

I-495 north from Lewinsville Road overpass to Old Dominion Drive overpass — Three left lanes closed Thursday night for overhead sign work. Expect intermittent full road closures of up to 30 minutes after midnight.

I-495 north from Exit 46, Chain Bridge Road (Route 123) to Exit 45, Dulles Connector Road (Route 267) — Three lanes closed Wednesday night for sign installation. Expect intermittent full road closures of up to 30 minutes after midnight.

Chain Bridge Road (Route 123) north or south between I-495 to Westpark Drive overpass — Two right lanes closed Monday and Tuesday nights for utility work.  Expect intermittent full road closures of up to 30 minutes after midnight.

Dulles Toll Road (Route 267) west from Spring Hill Road to Trap Road — Three left lanes closed Monday-Friday nights for bridge work. Expect intermittent full road closures of up to 15 minutes after midnight.

Dulles International Airport Access Hwy. east and west from Leesburg Pike (Route 7) to Trap Road — Right lane closed Monday-Wednesday nights for bridge work. Expect intermittent full road closures of up to 15 minutes after midnight.

I-495 south to Exit 45B, Dulles Connector Road (Route 267) east —Ramp closed Monday-Thursday nights for bridge painting. Traffic will be directed to continue south to Exit 46B, Chain Bridge Road (Route 123) north and follow signs to Dulles Connector Road (Route 267) east.

Dulles Connector Road (Route 267) east at I-495 — Road closed Monday and Tuesday nights for bridge work. Traffic will be directed to I-495 north to Exit 44, Georgetown Pike (Route 193) west, stay to the left, follow signs to I-495 south and take Exit 45B, Dulles Connector Rd. (Route 267) east.

Dulles Connector Road (Route 267) west at I-495 — Road closed Monday-Thursday nights for bridge painting. Traffic will be directed to use the Dulles Connector Road (Route 267) west.

Dulles International Airport Access Hwy. west at I-495 — Ramp closed Monday night for barrier work. Traffic will be directed to I-495 north to Exit 44, Georgetown Pike (Route 193) west, stay to the left and follow signs to I-495 south.

I-495 north to Exit 45A, Dulles Connector Road (Route 267) west — Ramp closed Monday-Thursday nights for overhead sign work. Traffic will be directed to continue north to Exit 44, Georgetown Pike (Route 193) west, stay to the left, follow signs to I-495 south and take Exit 45A, Dulles Connector Rd. (Route 267) west.

Intersection of Leesburg Pike (Route 7) and Spring Hill Road to Close Overnights Sunday through Tuesday — Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project construction will cause the closing of the intersection of Leesburg Pike (Route 7) and Spring Hill Road between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m., Sunday, April 1 through Tuesday, April 3, for acoustical panel installation.

Thru traffic along both directions of Leesburg Pike (Route 7) will be allowed, but thru traffic on Spring Hill Road will not be allowed, and will be detoured by using Route 7 as follows:

• Southbound Spring Hill Road thru traffic and motorists wanting to turn left on to eastbound Leesburg Pike will need to turn right on to westbound Leesburg Pike, then U-turn at Tyco Road/Westwood Center Drive, and continue on eastbound Leesburg Pike toward Spring Hill Road.
• Northbound Spring Hill Road thru traffic and motorists wanting to turn left on to westbound Leesburg Pike will need to turn right on to eastbound Leesburg Pike, U-turn at Westpark Drive/Gosnell Road or International Drive, and continue on westbound Route 7 to access Spring Hill Road.
• Left Turn Lanes from Westbound Route 7 on to Westwood Center Drive to Close Overnights
• The left turn lanes of westbound Route 7 at Westwood Center Drive are scheduled to close nightly, beginning Tuesday, April 3 and continuing through Friday, April 6, 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Detour: To access Westwood Center Drive from Route 7, drivers should continue on westbound Route 7, make a U-turn at Jarrett Valley Drive, then follow eastbound Route 7 to access Westwood Center Drive.
 
Ramp on to Dulles Toll Road (Route 267) from Leesburg Pike (Route 7) to Close Overnights

The ramp from eastbound Leesburg Pike (Route 7) to eastbound Route 267 is scheduled to close overnights next week starting Sunday, April 1, through Friday, April 6, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Ramp detour: To access eastbound Route 267 from eastbound Route 7, drivers should continue on Route 7, then U-turn at Tyco Road on to westbound Route 7 to access eastbound Route 267.

Note: The ramp to westbound Route 267 will remain open.
 
Capital One Entrance to Remain Closed at Night Next Week

The main entrance of the Capital One campus in McLean will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., Monday, April 2, through Saturday, April 7, for utility work.

To access the Capital One campus, use the alternate entrance via Scotts Crossing Road. This entrance will be closed over several weekends as crews continue work at that intersection.

Daytime Lane Closures on Dulles Connector Road (Route 267) to Continue into Late Summer

Expect to see intermittent delays to continue on the Dulles Connector Road due to daily lane closures in the coming months. Drivers should look for alternate routes if possible.

Construction activities on eastbound Route 267 will continue into late summer as crews complete work on the retaining walls and begin construction of a new shoulder area between the rail and road.
