Weekend Planner: 'What I Did Last Summer,' Save the Pimmit Barn Party and More

1. What I Did Last Summer

  • Where/When: Opening night will be celebrated at 8 p.m. Friday at the McLean Community Center. Additional shows are scheduled for 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday and Nov. 2-4.
  • Why Go: "A memory play set in 1945 by award-winning playwright A. R. Gurney.  Young Charlie undergoes life-altering experiences during the summer his father is away fighting in the Pacific."
  • Pricing: Tickets range in price from $14 to $16 with group rates available.

2. First Annual Save the Pimmit Barn Halloween Party

  • Where/When: The party is scheduled from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Historic Pimmit Barn, 1845 Cherri Dr., Pimmit Hills.
  • Why Go: This historic dairy barn is in danger of demolition and the committee to save it wants your help. So don your best Halloween costum, round up the kids and come enjoy several fun Halloween activities.
  • Pricing: Free to attend.

3. Library Book Sale

  • Where/When: The book sale will run Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Great Falls Library, 9830 Georgetown Pike, Great Falls.
  • Why Go: "Lots of great deals on lots of great books!"

4. "War Horse" at The Kennedy Center

  • Where/When: Shows are schedule for 7:30 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday night. Matinee performances are also scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Saturday at Sunday at The Kennedy Center, 2700 F St., Washington.
  • Why Go: "Winner of five Tony Awards, including Best Play, War Horse is a powerfully moving and imaginative drama. At its heart are astonishing life-sized puppets that bring to life galloping, charging horses strong enough for men to ride." (Source: The Kennedy Center website)
  • Pricing: Tickets range in price from $25 to $175.

5. Dogtopia Howl-O-Ween Spooktacular
