A View From The Bridge by Arthur Miller
A View from the Bridge, by Arthur Miller, is set in 1950s America, in Redhook, an Italian American neighborhood near the Brooklyn Bridge in New York. The play explores the themes of love, betrayal and belonging. It tells the story of Eddie Carbone, Brooklyn longshoreman obsessed with his 17-year-old niece Catherine. Eddie agrees to shelter his wife's cousins who are seeking refuge in New York as illegal immigrants, but trouble begins when Catherine becomes attracted to one of the newly arrived cousins. Eddie's jealousy erupts in a rage that consumes him, his family and his world.
This is an intensely absorbing drama, sure of itself every step of the way. It makes no false moves, wastes no time and has the beauty that comes from directness and simplicity.
This performance will be held in the McLean High School Black Box theater, with seating limited to 75 seats per night.
