Music Director Emil de Cou has chosen an All-Mozart program, entitled "Bravo Mozart," to open the Virginia Chamber Orchestra’s 41   st Season on Sunday, Octber 23rd, at 4 P.M. Aaron Goldman and Dotian Levalier will be featured soloists in the Concerto for Flute and Harp.   The venue will be the Ernst Community Cultural Center at the Northern Virginia Community College in Annandale, Virginia. The orchestra will also perform the Symphony No. 41 in C Major (   Jupiter), and the Overture to The Magic Flute.   Aaron Goldman joined the National Symphony Orchestra as Assistant Principal Flutist in September 2006. Prior to the NSO, he was Principal Flutist of the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra and the Greater Lansing Symphony Orchestra. Performances with other orchestras include the Baltimore Symphony, the Florida Orchestra, and the Chautauqua Symphony.   As soloist, Mr. Goldman has appeared on numerous occasions with the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra and has been twice featured with the Chamber Orchestra of Florida. He has also performed with various chamber music ensembles, both classical and jazz, and is a member of the Halil Duo.   Dotian Levalier is principal harpist of the National Symphony Orchestra. Before joining the National Symphony in 1969, she was the principal harpist of the Philadelphia Chamber Orchestra, the Philadelphia Ballet, the Philadelphia Grand Opera Company, and the Philadelphia Lyric Opera Company. Ms. Levalier has made numerous recital, television, and radio appearances as well as guest artist appearances with other orchestras.   She has been a guest artist with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, the Emerson String Quartet, Theater Chamber Players of New York, and with the National Symphony at Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center, and at Wolf Trap. In June of 2008 Ms. Levalier premiered   Four Angels by Mark Adamo. She has performed concertos with conductors Andre Kostelanetz, Antal Dorati, Mstislav Rostropovich, Andrew Litton, Leonard Slatkin, and others. She records on the Erato, Sony, MSR, and Pro-Arte Labels.   Art works by noted Virginia painter Cherry Baumbusch will be on display in the Art Gallery adjoining the concert hall. A complimentary reception will follow the concert.   Parking is free. Additional information is available at www.virginiachamberorchestra.org or 703-758-0179.   The Virginia Chamber Orchestra was founded as a professional touring orchestra, bringing live concerts to areas of the Commonwealth where they were seldom or never offered. In addition to presenting live concerts, it now occupies a unique niche by "touring" electronically, reaching millions of young people throughout the area and nationwide with satellite-delivered television and streaming Internet programs.   In a recent collaboration with George Washington’s Mount Vernon Estate and the Fairfax National Network, the VCO performed orchestral selections typical of music Washington heard as president while attending concerts in the new nation’s earliest capital cities.   The Virginia Chamber Orchestra’s mission is to perform fine music with the highest artistic integrity for the broadest possible audience, within the limits of fiscal responsibility.   ###
