Sewage Spill Shuts Down Roads in McLean Area

The sewage leak has been stopped and VDOT is keeping the road closed to clean up the mess.

An overturned sewage truck leaked some of its contents into a stream and shut down Georgetown Pike at Langley Road and Georgetown Ridge closing the road in both directions.

The leak has been stopped, said Fairfax County Fire and Rescue spokesman Dan Schmidt.

Schmidt said the truck overturned around 7:30 a.m. and leaked some sewage into a nearby stream. The Virginia Department of Environmental Quality has been called in to investigate the situation.

The Virginia Department of Transportation has shut the road down to clean and the road should reopen later today, Schmidt said.
