America Eats Tavern Hopes to Open in June at Ritz-Carlton Tyson's Corner

Expect to see tweaks on traditional fare on the menu; Virginia wines.

Celebrated chef José Andrés will likely open his new restaurant at the Ritz-Carlton at Tyson's Corner the first week of June, according to a report Tuesday from Eater DC.

The restaurant will serve breakfast, lunch, dinner, plus a bar and weekend brunch, according to the Ritz-Carlton Web site. Eater reveals that some of the items on the menu may include maple-glazed scrapple, a take on shrimp and grits and more. The lunch and dinner menu will emphasize traditional American dishes with a twist, with plays on chicken and dumplings, jambalaya, pot pie and hush puppies.

The restaurant will serve modern American fare, and will showcase the best products of the region and the country, including American wines, beer, spirits, seafood, and specialty products. The restaurant will have an emphasis on American fare, particularly from surrounding farms and vineyards in Virginia, according to its Facebook page.

Andrés is a James Beard Award-winning chef who has lived in Washington, D.C. for more than 20 years, though originally from Spain. He has been named to Time magazine’s 100 influential people, and is recognized and awarded by peers and press for his culinary excellence and innovation.
