Former Governor, Senator Chuck Robb to Chair MITRE Board of Trustees

He assumed the role following the recent death of James Schlesinger, who served as chairman for 27 years.

The MITRE Corporation announced Wednesday that Charles S. "Chuck" Robb has assumed the role of chairman of its Board of Trustees, following the recent death of James Schlesinger, who served as chairman for 27 years. Robb has been a member of the board since 2001 and vice chairman since 2006.

Previously, he served as Virginia’s 64th governor (1982 to 1986) and later as a U.S. Senator (1989 to 2001).  In 2004, he chaired the Commission on the Intelligence Capabilities of the United States Regarding Weapons of Mass Destruction.

While in the Senate, he became the first member ever to serve simultaneously on all three national security committees (Intelligence, Armed Services, and Foreign Relations). In 2006, he was appointed to serve on President George W. Bush's Intelligence Advisory Board.
