Jack Diamond Leaves Florida Station to Come Back to Washington; Return to DC Radio Next?

Will the former 107.3-FM morning host ride the airwaves again in DC?

By Mary Ann Barton

Less than a year ago, WRQX 107.3 FM's Jack Diamond Show was unceremoniously yanked from Washington-area radio, shocking Diamond's longtime fan base, who were left to wonder why.

After 24 years on the air, Atlanta-based Cumulus Media seemingly on a whim substituted the hometown program for a syndicated show out of Atlanta. Diamond fans quickly made it clear they would have nothing to do with the new show, criticizing the program on social media. The latest ratings for WRQX can be found here.

Diamond kept in touch with his fans on his Facebook page and on Twitter, sharing photos of his travels and, later, news that he had signed on to host a radio show in Florida.

On Friday, Diamond told fans on Facebook that he's decided to leave the Florida gig at 101.5 FM and return to the Washington area, where his family lives.

Speculation immediately grew by fans that perhaps he might be returning to the DC airwaves, but Diamond is playing his cards close to the vest. Dave TV recently mused that Diamond might be making a DC comeback on WASH-FM.

Diamond, who plays in a band, did say that he might gather up some friends to play music soon. His radio fans? They'll have to stay tuned.
