Matchbox Opening Friday in Mosaic District
Congressman Gerry Connolly and Providence District Supervisor Linda Smyth will be on hand at Friday's ribbon cutting ceremony.
After weeks of waiting, Matchbox will Friday at 2911 District Ave., Merrifield, in the Mosaic District.
Kelsey Duke, a spokeswoman for the restaurant, said it will be the first full-service restaurant in the Mosaic District. A ribbon-cutting ceremony with Rep. Gerry Connolly and Providence District Supervisor Linda Smyth and others is scheduled for 2 p.m.
Duke said the restaurant will be open at 4 p.m. daily after the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The restaurant, known for menu items like 3.6.9 mini burgers and wood-fired pizzas, will be located next to the Angelika Film Center.
Matchbox will be the first full-service restaurant to open in the new shopping district. Other Mosaic District eateries include Cava Mezze Grill, Dolcezza Gelato and Taylor Gourmet.
