Northern Virginia's $27 Burger Makes a 'Best New Burgers' List

Three Northern Virginia restaurant burgers make the list.

Eater DC, the Web site that covers everything foodie in the Washington, D.C. region, has just posted its "Ten New Burgers to Try NOW" list and coming in at the top of the list?

A $27 burger in Tyson's Corner. Here's a description off the menu at America Eats Tavern. (America Eats recently opened for lunch and breakfast at the Ritz Carlton at Tyson's Corner.)

Fois Gras Burger: Hudson Valley fois gras, caramelized onions with huckleberries, grain mustard.

Fois gras is the liver of a specially fattened goose or duck prepared as food.

Also on the list in Northern Virginia: Burgers on the menus of two Arlington restaurants.

Coming in at #4:  Heavy Seas Alehouse. Here's what Eater had to say: "Chances are you won’t find fried avocado on any other burger in the D.C. area aside from Heavy Sea’s Tortuga creation in Arlington. The fried fruit does its best turtle-shell impression here featuring a light panko and a spicy papaya slaw."

And at #7: Ray's 3: Eater said: "The lineup of Hell Burgers at Ray’s to the Third just got another member: The Brimstone Burger. In keeping with the nether-world theme, Michael Landrum’s newest burger creation tops the beef with Ray’s Purgatory chili, Vermont cheddar, raw red onions and charred jalapeno."
