TODD SCHENK NAMED JSSA'S CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

JSSA’s Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Todd Schenk, M.Ed., MBA has been named the agency’s next Chief Executive Officer effective September 1, 2014. 

“We feel extremely fortunate that such a dynamic and accomplished social service professional is joining our team. Todd Schenk has a proven ability to create strategic clarity, drive innovation and growth and deliver results. He will be a great asset to the organization and we’re confident that his knowledge, experience and stewardship will ensure JSSA’s continued success well into the future,” said Jeffrey F. Abramson, 2013-2014 Board President.

Mr. Schenk comes to the organization from the Jewish Board of Family & Children’s Services (JBFCS), a $200M organization of more than 2,000 employees serving the needs of over 30,000 New Yorkers annually. Mr. Schenk has been active in the social service field for 25 years, including the past 20 years at JBFCS in various leadership roles ranging from oversight of program services to fiscal and budget management. As JBFCS’s Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Schenk oversaw the agency’s program services including those serving individuals and families with needs related to mental health, child welfare, domestic violence, developmental disabilities and early childhood education.  He also led the agency’s efforts in a successful transition to a managed care environment.

Mr. Schenk has been recognized by the Coalition of Behavioral Health Agencies and the New York State Case Management Coalition for his leadership and collaboration with government and provider organizations to advance the state’s mental health field. He has demonstrated a commitment to culturally competent care, supporting efforts of his organization to address the needs of the city’s Orthodox Jewish community, helping spearhead an initiative to “Confront Structural Racism” and sponsoring work of an LGBTQ task force.

 

Mr. Schenk earned a BA from the University of Michigan, a M.Ed. in Counseling Psychology from Cambridge College and a MBA from Columbia University Business School.
