"Offshore Oil Drilling for Virginia: Undead and Ugly"

  • Ivy Main, an officer with the Sierra Club of Virginia and a McLean residents, writes this week about how "Drilling for oil off Virginia’s coast is once again a possibility, popping up like a zombie when we thought it was dead (again)."
  • "Some naysayers, including Congressman Gerry Connolly (D-Fairfax), point out that drilling off our coast is opposed by the U.S. Navy, which uses most of Virginia’s leasing area for its operations. These include testing air and surface missiles and bombs, which traditionally don’t pair well with oil rigs and tankers."

  • "It’s common to find that as people grow older, hair thins, skin wrinkles and the overall body weakens. But, while natural evidence of aging seems harmless, a multiyear study recently published by The Copenhagen City Heart Study suggests that looking old might actually indicate heart issues."
