Express Lanes, Dulles Lane Closures This Week

Check out this construction info before hitting the road this week.

Weather permitting, road crews will be closing lanes on the Dulles Toll Road for electric work, a pedestrian bridge and other major construction.

According to Virginia Megaprojects: 

Closures from Sunday through Thursday nights are between 9:30 p.m. and 5 a.m. Friday and Saturday night road closure work is scheduled between 9:30 p.m. and 9 a.m.

  • Chain Bridge Rd. (Route 123) north at Tysons Blvd.- Left turn lane closed Tuesday - Saturday nights for canopy installation. Traffic will be directed to make a left onto International Dr., right on Galleria Dr. and follow signs to Tysons Blvd.
  • Chain Bridge Rd. (Route 123) north at Capital One Dr. - Two left turn lanes closed Monday - Friday nights for station work. Traffic will be directed to continue north, make a left onto Scotts Crossing Rd. and follow signs to Capital One Dr.
  • Chain Bridge Rd. (Route 123) south from I-495 to Tysons Blvd. – Two lanes and two right turn lanes and right lane closed Monday - Saturday nights for canopy and panel installation. Traffic will be directed to continue south, make a right onto International Dr., right onto Galleria Dr.
  • Leesburg Pike (Route 7) east from the Dulles Toll Rd. (Route 267) to Westwood Center Dr. - Left lane and left turn lane closed Monday - Thursday nights for traffic shift.
  • Leesburg Pike (Route 7) east from Gosnell Rd. to Marshalls Dr. - Two lanes closed Friday and Saturday nights for roadway shift.
  • Tysons Blvd. east from Galleria Dr. to Chain Bridge Rd. (Route 123) - Two through lanes and right turn lane closed Tuesday - Saturday nights for pedestrian bridge and canopy installation. Traffic will be directed to make a left onto Galleria Dr. east, left onto Westbranch Dr., right onto Tysons Blvd., left onto International Dr. and follow signs to Chain Bridge Rd. (Route 123).
  • Galleria Dr. west at Tysons Blvd. - Three left turn lanes closed Tuesday - Saturday nights for canopy installation. Traffic will be directed to make a right onto Tysons Blvd., left onto International Dr., and follow signs to Chain Bridge Rd. (Route 123).

EXPRESS LANES WORK (Nights)

  • I-495 south from Exit 44, Georgetown Pike (Route 193) to Heming  Ave. underpass - Three lanes closed Sunday – Friday nights for punch list work. Expect intermittent full road closures of up to 30 minutes after midnight. 
  • Chain Bridge Rd. (Route 123) north and south at I-495 - Two lanes closed Sunday – Friday nights for lighting and punch list work.
  • I-495 north to Exit 47A and B, Leesburg Pike (Route 7) west and east - Single lane of ramp closed Tuesday - Thursday nights for sign work.
  • I-495 north to Exit 49B, I-66 east - Ramp closed Sunday – Friday night for punch list work. Traffic will be directed to take Exit 49A, I-66 west, take Exit 62, Nutley St. south, stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 east.
  • I-66 west to I-495 south - Ramp closed Sunday – Friday nights for punch list work. Traffic will be directed to continue west to Exit 62, Nutley St. south, stay to the right, follow signs to I-66 east to I-495 south.  
  • I-495 north from Heming Ave. underpass to George Washington Pkwy. - Three lanes closed Sunday – Friday nights for punch list work. Expect intermittent full road closures of up to 30 minutes after midnight.
