Earlier: The NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE has issued a TORNADO WATCH for FAIRFAX and surrounding areas UNTIL 4 PM EST this afternoon.
Strong to severe thunderstorms will be possible today across the Commonwealth from late this morning through this evening.
THUNDERSTORMS will be capable of producing damaging wind gusts and ISOLATED TORNADOES.
GUSTY WINDS are expected tonight in the wake of the cold front. Wind gusts may approach wind advisory criteria.
