Moms Chat: Morning Exercise

Taking Time for Mom

Whether you work inside or outside of the home (or both) moms are very busy people.  The demands of raising children and managing a family are numerous and often competing.  It’s hard to find time to take care of yourself, but, oh, so necessary.

Even if it’s just a few minutes of solitude late in the day, having time to oneself helps to create a better environment for everyone.  Moms need time to recharge their batteries and connect with their inner selves.

Below, our McLean Patch Moms relate what they do in order to take care of themselves.  Please let us what you do to take care of yourself too!

I had to resort to becoming a “morning person” in order to find  time for herself everyday.

I have to admit ,I’m terrible about making time for things like weekends away and date nights. I completely agree that every mom needs those things and carving out more time for myself and my interests seems to be a part of every New Year's resolution, but.....

One thing I am good at is getting regular exercise. I get up before my kids every morning and power walk with my dogs and a group of friends for an hour. I don’t love getting up before the sun, but I do love getting to exercise AND socialize regularly. On a really perfect morning, there is good gossip, the dogs behave and I can get home, shower and get my first sip of coffee before the boys wake up.

This early morning routine makes all the difference in my frame of mind as I start the day. Everyone in my family can tell ,without having to ask ,if I missed my morning walk!
