Old Chesterbrook Road Bridge Reopens

The bridge replacement project began in mid-June.

After months of repair work, the Old Chesterbrook Road Bridge reopened to traffic on Friday afternoon, the Virginia Department of Transportation reports.

"Some additional daytime lane closures may be needed to finish detail work. The entire project is expected to be complete in November 2012," the VDOT website indicates.

The bridge, a popular McLean shortcut, closed in June for emergency repair work.

This project was accelerated and approved for emergency procurement to replace the deteriorated elements and restore full-load capacity as soon as possible.
