Christopher Rogers, former head of Nextel, who came to McLean earlier this year after swapping homes with sports owner Ted Leonsis, has put his house up for sale.
Rogers called McLean Patch to say he and his wife loved living in McLean and are leaving only because they new house in Bethesda is ready. Rogers said he is a Bethesda native.
"It was wonderful interim housing. We've loved our stay in McLean," he said. "This was the perfect place to camp out while the house in Bethesda is finished."
Rogers paid $9 million and is now asking $9.5 million according to the listing below. The house just off of Georgetown Pike in Langley, is assesed for nearly $7 million, according to Fairfax County property records.
The 10,000 square foot house comes with eight bedrooms, eight fireplaces and a large gate to guarantee privacy.
The swap/sale between Rogers and Leonsis occurred in January but just showed up in the Fairfax County real estate transactions in July. Leonsis moved to an historic property in Potomac, Md, Rogers' former address.
Sprint purchased Nextel in 2005. Rogers said he remains a Sprint executive.
