Major Beltway and Dulles Access Road Closing This Week in Tysons Corner Area

Here is a list of traffic troublespots in and around McLean and Tysons Corner caused by the Metro and HOT Lanes construction. Pack the patience.

TEMPORARY TOTAL CLOSURES of up to 30 minutes on I-495 north and south from George Washington Parkway to Georgetown Pike and at Arlington Blvd., I-495 north at Lee Highway overpass, on I-495 south at Leesburg Pike, Oak St. and from Wakefield Park pedestrian bridge to Heming Avenue underpass.

Major Overnight Lane and Ramp Closures on the I-495 Capital Beltway  and Route 123 Continue
 
Crews will continue the bridge construction over I-495 at the Route 123 intersection. Multiple lanes in either direction of the beltway may be closed in the overnight hours, though thru traffic will be permitted. A ramp may be closed when work is scheduled over that ramp. Specific lane closures and detour information will be announced daily, and should be expected through the end of the year.

Dulles International Airport Access Hwy. east at I-495 - Closed Monday - Wednesday nights for bridge overhang work. Traffic will be directed to the Dulles Toll Rd. (Route 267) east. Motorists will not be tolled.

Dulles International Airport Access Hwy. west at I-495 - Road closed Wednesday - Thursday nights for bridge overhang work. Traffic will be directed to the Dulles Toll Rd. (Route 267) west. Motorists will not be tolled.

Westpark Bridge to Close Overnights Monday through Wednesday Nights
 
Westpark Bridge, which connects Westpark Drive to Tysons Corner Center over Route 123, will begin overnight closures Monday through Wednesday nights, Nov. 14-16. The bridge will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. on those nights.
 
Bridge construction crews will be placing acoustical barriers into place over the bridge, and traffic will not be allowed to travel underneath for public safety reasons.
 
Traffic on Westpark Drive will be directed to detour by staying on Westpark, turning left on International Drive, then left on Chain Bridge Road (Route 123) to enter Tysons Corner Center on the right. An alternate route would be to use Tysons Boulevard, which also allows drivers to turn left on International Drive to Chain Bridge Road.
 
Traffic leaving Tysons Corner Center can use Ring Road to southbound Route 123, then right on International Drive to access Galleria Drive and Tysons Boulevard.
 
Safety Alert: Flaggers on Trap Road, Magarity Road
 
Drivers who use Magarity Road in the McLean/Falls Church area, and Trap Road in the Vienna area, should be aware that flaggers will control thru traffic on those roads during the daytime next week. Flaggers will be on those roads Monday, Nov. 14 - Thursday, Nov. 17 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and Friday, Nov. 18, from 9:30 a.m. to noon.
 
The flaggers on Magarity will be stationed under the Dulles Connector Road overpass, while those on Trap Road will be stationed at the bridge over the Dulles Toll Road/Dulles International Airport Access Highway.
